Kendall Co. Republican Leaders To Hand Out Care Packages Saturday

Local elected officials are set to distribute packages using a drive-thru, no-contact system in Yorkville.

KENDALL COUNTY, IL — State Rep. Keith Wheeler (R-Oswego), along with a group of Republican Kendall County elected officials and candidates, will distribute free care packages to people in need on Saturday, May 23, according to a press release.

They will be providing milk and masks along with food from the Kendall County Community Food Pantry at 208 Beaver St. in Yorkville from 9-11 a.m. The care package will include items such as fresh Oberweis Dairy milk, protective masks, and food items. The aim is to distribute at least 500 bags, the release states.

To comply with social distancing orders, people are asked to drive up and the bags will be placed in their trunks.

State Sen. and 14th District Congressional candidate, Jim Oberweis, has provided milk at similar community events in Chicago and Harvey with Pastor Corey Brooks and in St. Charles and Elgin with Kane County Republican officials.

"People are hurting right now,” Oberweis said. "I have been amazed at how people turn up for these events. There is a tremendous need to make sure families do not go hungry, and we are trying to do something to help."

Joining Sen. Oberweis and Rep. Wheeler will be Kendall County GOP Chairman Jim Marter; State Senator Sue Rezin (R-Morris); State Rep. David Welter (R-Morris); State Senate Candidate Jeanette Ward; IL 11 Congressional Candidate Rick Laib, and Kendall County Board Members Dan Koukol, Scott Gengler and Matt Prochaska.
