Letter to the Editor: Len Wass Announces His Park Board Candidacy
'Time to cut wasteful spending and high user fees.'

This announces my candidacy for the Oswegoland Park District (OPD) Board. There are Park District programs and facilities that should be maintained, but there is also significant wasteful spending, high user fees and taxes, and disregard for resident views. If elected, I pledge that I will cut wasteful spending, cut user fees, cut taxes, and act in a fiscally responsible manner for your interests.
I've lived in Oswego for 24 years, where my wife Kathy and I raised two sons. I was a vice president and senior partner for a large management consulting firm for 22 years, consulting to boards and CEOs of Fortune 500 companies. I was CEO of my own firm for 13 years before retirement. I would use my expertise, energy, and leadership to rein in the out of control spending at the Park District and put it on a path of fiscal responsibility.
I served a total of 25 years (5 active; 20 reserves) with the Navy's Submarine Force, including the Vietnam War theatre, retiring as a Navy Captain. I hold a bachelor's degree from the U.S. Naval Academy and an MBA from the University of Chicago (finance & international business).
Please visit the web site (www.4OPDChange.com), and attend a Fiscal Responsibility Summit (March 8 and 23). I look forward to meeting you and answering any and all questions you might have, and request that you vote for me on April 5. Feel free to contact me at wcginc@aol.com.
