Letter to the Editor: Radio Play a 'Great Evening of Entertainment'

I would like to offer a review of the Limelight Theater Company/Oswegoland Park District production of the Maltese Falcon.  The radio play was presented last Saturday evening at the .  Those of you who missed the performance missed a great evening of entertainment.  I am a fan of old time radio.  My Sirius/XM radio is always tuned to Radio Classics where old time radio programs are aired 24 hours a day.  I am also an old film buff and The Maltese Falcon has always been one of my favorites.

The cast, in general, seemed to have a very good time performing.  A couple of outstanding performances, in my opinion, were given by Chelsey Walker as Ms. Wonderly, Gary Wooley as Gutman, and Kyle Ryan as Sgt. Polhaus. Madison Biaglow performed wonderfully as she worked as part of the Sound Crew.  She opened and closed the door with great timing and enthusiasm.  She also offered some comic relief as the Stenographer.  Well done Madison.

The absolute stars of the show were the other two sound techs Emily Kupres and Emily Wyatt.  They clearly made the total performance work.  From the sounds of furniture being knocked over, kisses, phone calls, and bodies falling these two worked hard.  A radio performance is all sound effects.  The pictures are in your mind.  The sounds are in your ears.

Upcoming is Casablanca. (Another favorite film of mine.)  It will be presented on Saturday, Feb. 18.  The performances are one night only.  It is a great evenings entertainment for very little cost.  If you missed The Maltese Falcon, you must make every effort to see Casablanca.

I would like to commend the fine area youth involved in Limelight, the adults who look out for them, and the Oswegoland Park District who sponsor the program.
