Letter to the Editor: Time to Mobilize on Assessments

Dear Fellow Property Tax Payers:
Last spring when we got our first installment we were all concerned about the tax rates that our elected officials gave us. Many readers commented on the ability to complain about inaccurate rates being applied to each individual property.
Our window of opportunity is here. Time will pass quickly so your immediate action is required. There is a 30-day window starting 10/13/11. contains a section that lists all properties and a rate. When you locate your property on the list your comparison of neighbors is nearby.

Can we as a community discuss once again the options of filing a complaint? We are a very resourceful group.
I will be looking for elected officials that will not just simply raise our tax rate like they all did this year, but only those that will cut spending and work with us taxpayers. They will review employee rosters, pensions and projects.
