Freshman hit from behind at practice reported feeling discomfort.

An freshman football player playing on the sophomore team was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center at about 5 p.m. Tuesday after suffering from a possible spinal injury during afternoon practice.
Krisinte Liptrot, director of communications, said the player was hit from behind and reported some discomfort, so as a precautionary measure he was taken to the hospital. The player was accompanied by a coach while the boy’s parents were called to the hospital.
“This does not appear to serious, but because we are not medical professionals we wanted to have him checked out by doctors,” Liptrot said. “In these cases we’d rather be safe than sorry.”
