Oswego Man Dies After Jumping From Moving Car: Police
Police said the 35-year-old was struck by a pickup truck hauling a trailer Monday afternoon.
OSWEGO, IL — A 35-year-old Oswego man died of his injuries after jumping from a moving vehicle and being struck by a pickup truck in Sugar Grove, police said.
Police said Sugar Grove officers and paramedics responded to Route 56 between Hankes Road and Golfview Drive around 1:04 p.m. and found the man lying in the middle of the road. The first officer to arrive began CPR on the man, and the Sugar Grove Fire Protection District quickly arrived and determined that the man had died of his injuries.
Police said that before the crash, the man was a passenger in a vehicle heading west on Route 56 from I-88. The man "was experiencing distress while traveling" and jumped out of the moving car from the front passenger seat, police said.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and tried to keep the man along the shoulder of the road, police said. "Still, the distressed male ran into the lanes of traffic," and was hit by a Ford pickup truck that was pulling a trailer, according to police. A 27-year-old Warrenville man was driving the Ford pickup.
The westbound lanes of Route 56 from I-88 were closed for around four hours during the investigation, according to police.

The 35-year-old Oswego man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of family.
The Sugar Grove Police Department initiated a Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team (KCART) to assist with the investigation. Police thanked the Kane County Sheriff's Office, Kane County Office of Emergency Management, KCART and the Sugar Grove Fire Protection District for assisting with the investigation and traffic control.
