Oswego Man's Death Ruled Accidental Cocaine Overdose
Kurt A. Dedner found 75 feet from his home June 8.

A Kendall County Coroner’s jury ruled Thursday that was due to an accidental overdose of cocaine.
Kurt A. Dedner, 36, of 226 Clubhouse Lane, was found lying face down and unresponsive by a passer-by at about 1 p.m., said Oswego Police Detective Rob Sherwood, who testified before the jury. He was pronounced dead at 1:50 p.m.
An autopsy revealed no trauma to the body but an elevated level of cocaine in Dedner’s system. Sherwood said there was no indication that Dedner was a habitual drug user.

The last known person to have contact with Dedner was a female neighbor with whom he had had a previous relationship. Sherwood said she told police she saw Dedner at 6 a.m., and he told her he “had been drinking and other stuff.”
No alcohol was found in Dedner’s system, according to toxicology results.

Sherwood said another resident may have heard Dedner at about 10 a.m. moaning. The resident thought the noise was an animal and drove off, Sherwood said.
A search of Dedner’s residence revealed hundreds cans of opened beer, only some of which were empty, but no evidence of illegal drugs, Sherwood said.
Correction: The first name of Mr. Dedner has been changed. We regret the error.
