Not sure what to give Uncle Jim this Christmas? Consider gifting a donation to the Oswego Presbyterian Church (OPC) Kenya Scholarship Fund in honor of Uncle Jim. He will likely appreciate that more than another tie, and he (and you) will have the satisfaction of knowing that the gift will make a difference in a young person’s life.
This fund was started in 2014 to help low-income families in Kithino Parish, OPC’s Kenya partner, continue their children’s education into high school and beyond. In these 10 years, 298 sponsored children have graduated secondary school and 64 of those have received college associate or bachelor’s degrees. This would not have been possible without the scholarships.
There is government support for high schools and colleges in Kenya, but many low-income families cannot cover the extra fees to continue their child’s education. The extra cost can be as low as $50 per year, so a donation of just $50 can keep a child in high school and $125 can help her/him continue into college.
