The report used licensed data to analyze each city's risk score then rated it against the state and national average.
OSWEGO, IL – Oswego was ranked the 16th safest community in Illinois, according to a report by LendEDU.
The report used licensed data to analyze each city’s risk score then rated it against the state and national average. This score represents the combined risk of rape, murder, assault, robbery, burglary, larceny and vehicle theft compared to the national average, according to LendEDU.
The scores were ranked out of 100: If a city posted a total crime risk score of 200 it meant it had twice the risk of crime compared to the national average. Cities that made the top of their state’s list had the highest negative difference from the national average; a higher negative difference meant a lower crime risk score, which meant a safer town. A safe community received a score of -98, and this meant it had a crime risk score of two.
