Oswego Sex Offender Charged with Violation of the Illinois Sex Offender Registration Act

Michael McCallister, 29, failed to register as a sex offender, which he is required to do every 90 days.

An Oswego man from unincorporated Kendall County has been charged with violating the Illinois sex offender registration act, according to the Kendall County Sheriff’s office.

Michael McCallister, 29, of the 2200 block of Light Road, Oswego, failed to register as a sex offender after a 90 day period.

McCallister was convincted in 2006 for criminal sexual assault for a victim 21 year old while he was 23 at the time, according to the Illinois Sex Offender registry. As a condition of his conviction, he is required to register every 90 days with the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office.

In December 2012, Kendall County detectives learned McCallister had moved and had not informed authorities, thus launching an investigation.

As a result McCallister was charged with failure to register as a sex offender, a class 2 felony. Bond was set at 10 percent posted of $50,000.

McCallister is currently incarcerated at the Cook County Correction center on an unrelated matter.
