Oswegoland Park District's Pools To Remain Closed This Summer
The opening of the Prairie Point Splash Pad is also delayed while the district awaits guidance on operations from IDPH.
OSWEGO, IL — Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Oswegoland Park District's Civic Center and Winrock pools will remain closed, according to executive director Rich Zielke.
He said that the park district's pools will not open as scheduled for the 2020 season and typical pre-season pool preparations and staff trainings have been suspended until further notice as well.
"The district is currently assessing the feasibility of providing a shortened pool season given the operational and financial challenges this may pose," he said. This is being done to ensure safety of the staff and patrons.

Zielke said Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois plan does not include public swimming pools.
"In addition, the Illinois Department of Public Health has not provided any direction on how, or if, we can safely operate aquatic facilities this summer," he said. "A decision to open the facilities will be made once we have adequate information from state agencies. Since we are aware that the season will be short, if at all, and that other limitations may be present, we will be automatically refunding anyone who has purchased a season pass or registered for swim lessons."
