1,991 ComEd Customers Still Without Power In Kendall County

High winds downed trees and power lines Monday afternoon, causing heavy damage in parts of northern Illinois.

KENDALL COUNTY, IL — Several active power outages knocked out electricity to over 5,000 Commonwealth Edison customers in Will County Monday afternoon when a strong storm that threatened to turn into tornadoes ripped through the area. While power has been restored to most homes, many residents are still experiencing outages.

Tornado warnings were issued for much of the Chicago area, with wind gusts of 80 mph, hail the size of a quarter and downed trees and power lines were reported as the severe weather passed through northern Illinois.

As of 7:33 a.m. Tuesday about 1,991 ComEd customers in the county do not have electricity, according to the company’s outage map. There were at least 95 power outages across the county during the storm, affecting less than 5 percent of all customers in the county, according to the company.

The storm knocked out power for almost 5 customers in Oswego, 187 in Yorkville, and 11 in Montgomery as of Tuesday, ComEd’s map shows.
