Park District Receives $25K To Assist Families Amid Pandemic

The Oswegoland Park Foundation hopes the donation will allow local families to take part in programs they may not have otherwise.

OSWEGO, IL — With all the previously unforeseen hardships that the coronavirus pandemic has created in mind, the Oswegoland Park Foundation donated $25,000 to the Oswegoland Park District to help fund the district’s financial assistance program. The program enables families experiencing financial hardship to receive reduced fees for park district programs, according to a news release.

Foundation officials hopes that the $25,000 donation will allow many local families to take part in programs they may not have otherwise during this challenging time. The foundation is encouraging area families who have not signed up for a park district program "simply because you can’t afford it" to contact the district to inquire about fee assistance and to discover if they may qualify.

"The Park Foundation has been working hard for the past several years to raise money for times like this," said Foundation Board President Dannielle Wilson. "We are honored to be able help the park district continue to achieve our shared mission of creating opportunities for a healthy community, even during these times."
