"Whether you're driving around the corner or across the nation, remember to buckle up every time," Oswego Police Spokesperson Cathy Nevara said in a statement. "The 'Click It or Ticket' effort is about preserving lives. We want seat belt use to be second nature for all drivers and passengers."

In Illinois, about 93 percent of drivers comply with seat belt regulations. On the national level, that number dips to 91.9 percent, law enforcement officials estimate.
