Positive Coronavirus Test Result For Oswego Police Dept. Employee

OSWEGO, IL — An employee of the Oswego Police Department tested positive for the coronavirus, the village said. According to a press release, the village was notified on Friday and the employee works at the police station at 3355 Woolley Road.

Prior to the symptoms and confirmation of illness, the individual was not in contact with the public as a part of policing duties. The employee is under a doctor’s care and self-quarantining as recommended, according to the release.

The Oswego Police Headquarters was sanitized Friday and remained open for regular business hours in service to the community. The employee was not in public areas of the facility.

Additionally, village staff is working to ensure that precautions are being taken to keep employees and the public safe, including notifying those who have been in contact with the individual.
Since March, the village has been following state and local health officials’ guidance including increasing cleaning schedules for village facilities, screening employees and contractors, and requiring masks during interactions with the public and in common areas to protect staff and the public, the release stated.

This is the second Oswego employee who tested positive for COVID-19. On Aug. 7, the Village Hall was temporarily shuttered for thorough disinfecting after an employee had the virus.
