See What Streets Will Experience Delays, Closures During Oswego PrairieFest

Congestion and delays are expected around festival grounds and in downtown Oswego this weekend.

OSWEGO, IL — PrairieFest is bringing a weekend of fun to Oswego, but it will also cause increased congestion and delays, Oswego police said.

Festivities will take place Thursday through Sunday primarily at 91 Plank Drive, known as PrairieFest Park.

As a result, police are warning drivers of delays on the following roads:

  • Route 71 between Route 34 and Forest Avenue
  • Plainfield Road between Route 71 and Woolley Road
  • Madison, Washington and Main streets in the downtown Oswego area
  • In the downtown area from 1-2:30 p.m. Sunday due to the PrairieFest Parade

During the four-day festival, entry into the Oswego High School south lot at Route 71 and Franklin Street will not be available to southbound Route 71 drivers. Access to the gravel parking lot near the soccer fields will be prohibited.

Police are encouraging drivers not attending PrairieFest to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

"To ensure safety and enjoyment at PrairieFest, attendees can expect to see an increased police presence and additional security measures on festival grounds and along the parade route," officials wrote in a news release.

Parking for PrairieFest activities will be available at these lots:

  • Oswego High School (south and north lots)
  • Oswegoland Park District soccer fields
  • Eastview/District 308 lots
  • Prairie Point Elementary & Center lots
