Shoplifters Beware: Oswego Police Increasing Patrols
Police taking extra measures during holiday shopping season.

The following news release was provided by the Oswego Police deparment.
Now that the Holiday shopping season has begun, will be increasing their patrols in the retail areas throughout the village. Although it’s a concern year round, this time of year leads to an increase in retail thefts. Officers will be more visible in these areas through the rest of the year. This will include foot patrols in and around retail stores, as well as extra patrols in parking lots.
Shoppers also need to be aware of their surroundings to help prevent themselves or others from becoming a victim. We do not recommend confronting suspects or putting yourself or others in harm’s way. You can however be a valuable witness and report suspicious activity to police or store employees. License plate numbers from a suspect’s vehicle is rarely obtained, but invaluable in a criminal investigation.
