Update: Tornado Warning Siren Out of Operation Until Likely End of Week for Some Oswego Residents
Police said in the event of severe weather during the repair time they will attempt an alternate notification for those in the affected area.

Update, 11:54 a.m.
From the Oswego Police:
We have had a mechanical failure at the tornado warning siren at Grove and Reservation Road. We hope to have repairs completed by Friday 08/09/13, until those repairs can be completed this siren will be out of operation.
Oswego Police will attempt to make alternate notification in the area served by this siren in the event of severe weather. We encourage area residents to watch the weather forecasts when planning outdoor activities in this area where they may be away from other media notifications and carry an alternate notification method with them.
A portable NOAA weather radio is one suggestion or if you have a smart phone there are several free "apps" available that can provide weather alerts from various media sources and the American Red Cross. We will provide an update when this siren is back in regular service
Update, 10:45 a.m.
The sirens shut off in the Grove/Reservation area around 10:45 a.m.
Police reported the siren was stuck in the "on" position following the monthly test.
Original, 10:22 a.m.
Every first Tuesday of the month the Village of Oswego tests their sirens around 10 a.m.
It's a short, couple minute burst of the wailing siren and then it's over.
Not quite today, at least for those near Grove Road and Reservation.
The following message was posted to the Village of Oswego Facebook page:
"Please disregard the active tornado siren near Grove and Reservation as there is no emergency. The village is currently working on the problem and expects repairs to be finished shortly. Thank you."
Community Relations Manager Michele Brown said the sirens are currently stuck but the problem is being worked on.
