Today marks Day 30 of fostering Stella.
Even more important, Sunday marked day 30 of Stella’s heart worm treatment, which means she is now officially heart worm free and looking for her forever home!
For anyone that might be interested in Stella we’re going to be at the Geneva Petsmart on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 11 a.m. to about 12:30 p.m. Please come out and meet her and fill out an adoption form!

But since it’s been a while since I wrote anything on this lovely girl, here’s what she’s been up to these past few weeks.
For starters, Stella loves to play. She’s so excited about anything that rolls on the ground and can amuse herself for quite a while chasing a ball (until it gets stuck underneath a table, see video above).

Since Sunday she’s finally been able to go on walks and she’s definitely been enjoying them and meeting all the other dogs around the neighborhood. She’s super friendly with dogs and kids and if she had her way we’d just take walks 24/7 to meet everyone in the neighborhood.
Unfortunately since Stella’s been cooped up for the past 30 days she’s been itching to stretch her legs and I don’t have a fenced in yard. She’s escaped twice, once slipping her collar on my mom while on a walk and the second time bolting from the backyard when we were coming in after chilling outside for a while.
Very fortunately both times either a neighbor or a friendly stranger were able to get a hold of her so she didn’t get too far away. She’s now on harness whenever we go out, but since the last incident (Wednesday) she’s been on her absolute best behavior.
Speaking of behavior, we’ve been trying to teach her some commands. “Sit” and “come” are coming along at a decent pace so long as you have treat in hand! Also, if you get her to sit and you’re sitting and pat the ground next to you she’ll lie down (and then promptly want a tummy rub). She also has figured out how to bat at a closed hand with her paw to find a treat inside; it’s so adorable!
It’s even cuter now because today Stella and I spent quite a few hours at the groomer getting her all pretty for thee event tomorrow and they cut her nails! Stella just loves attention and will hit you with her paw if she’s trying to get your attention, but if you’ve got a bare leg those claws hurt! Both the carpeting, hardwood floors and my legs are thankful for the shortened nails.
The grooming visit made her super soft and if I didn’t want to spend all day petting her I for sure do now. If you come visit us at the adoption event you will literally never want to walk away after you’ve touched her coat.
Oh, and remember how I called Stella a Houdini in training? She really is. Miss Stella-Bella (amongst her about 100 other nicknames) managed to break out of her GIANT crate the other day. She batted at door until she managed to push the pin out and then let herself out. She's quite brilliant! Fortunately, duct tape is amazing and the few times that she has to go in the crate a piece over the latch keeps her in.
You may also remember Stella was a picky eater (to say lightly) when I first got her. Not anymore! My mom and I have gotten her to chow down within minutes of getting her food and she normally finishes within a half hour. No gimmicks or extras required! We're really happy because she's put on some healthy weight and it'll be great news for her new family that they don't have to whip out the expensive stuff!
Stella has really made her way into my heart and I’m really going to miss her once she’s gone. But we’re hoping we can find her a forever home soon so that she can start to bond with her new family and start a new chapter in her life.
If you have any questions about her feel free to comment below!
P.S.: She is pottytrained! Always a plus, right?
