Victim Reported Being Defrauded Out of Over $3,800: Police

Thursday, Aug. 8
DUI
Miguel A. Rios, 35, of the 300 block of North Obin Street, Aurora, was arrested at 12:20 a.m. at Route 34 and Hill Avenue and charged with driving under the influence after he was stopped for driving without headlights when required, said Oswego police.
Tuesday, Aug. 6
Domestic battery, interfering with reporting of domestic battery, resisting a peace officer

Cynthia Meyers, 27, of the 200 block of Springbrook Trail South, Oswego, was arrested at 7:46 p.m. at her residence and charged with domestic battery, interfering with the reporting of a domestic battery and resisting a peace office, said Oswego police.
Theft

Oswego police took a report of theft that occurred at 2:30 p.m. at the McDonald’s in the 2800 block of Route 34. A cell phone valued at $350 was reported stolen.
Monday, Aug. 5
No valid driver’s license
A male juvenile, 16, was arrested at 11 p.m. at Lakeview and Pinehurst and charged for driving without a valid driver’s license and speeding, said Oswego police.
Retail theft
Charity L. Bird, 39, of the 700 block of West Charles Street, Plano, was arrested at 9 p.m. in the 2300 block of Route 34 and charged with retail theft of over $300, said Oswego police.
Burglary from a motor vehicle
Oswego police took a report of a burglary to a motor vehicle that occurred between 11 p.m. on Aug. 4 and 9 a.m. on Aug. 5 in the 400 block of Budbury Circle. A purse and iPhone charger valued at $175 were reported taken.
Sunday, Aug. 4
Possession of cannabis, drug paraphernalia
Justin J. Whiting, 18, of the 0-99 block of East Larkspur Lane, Bristol, was arrested at 11:18 p.m. at Orchard and Mill Roads and charged with the possession of cannabis less than 2.5 grams and the possession of drug paraphernalia, said Oswego police.
Hit and run
Oswego police took a report for a hit and run that occurred between 6:30 p.m. and 7:19 p.m. at a parking lot in the 1600 block of Douglas Road. A legally parked car was struck by an unknown vehicle resulting in over $500 worth of damages.
Theft
Oswego police took a report of a theft that occurred at 4 p.m. in the 300 block of Forest Avenue. Someone stole an old wooden door from a garage.
Fraud
Oswego police took a report for fraud that occurred at 7:54 p.m. when a fraudulent charge was placed on a credit card without permission.
Saturday, Aug. 3
DUI
Kelly Leonetti, 48, of the 2900 block of Ellsworth, Yorkville, was arrested at 2:20 a.m. at Route 34 and O’brien Way and charged with driving under the influence, said Oswego police.
Possession of drug paraphernalia and cannabis, driving with revoked license
Belinda L. Rosa, 35, of the 500 block of Sloker Court, North Aurora, was arrested at 9 a.m. at Liberty Court and Route 71 and charged with the possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia and driving with a revoked license, said Oswego police. She was also cited for a seat belt violation.
Warrant, driving with revoked license
Michael Swope, 26, of the 200 block of Springbrook Trail, Oswego, was arrested at 9:35 p.m. at Fifth Street and Route 30 and charged with a failure to appear warrant and driving on a revoked license, said Oswego police.
Friday, Aug. 2
Fraud
Oswego police took a report for fraud that occurred in July 2013. The victim reported being defrauded out of $3,833 while attempting to obtain a home modification loan. Further investigation revealed the Federal Trade Commission had obtained a court order in California to shut down the business. The victim was recommended to the law firm in California.
Criminal damage to property
- Oswego police took a report of criminal damage to property that occurred between July 29 and July 30 in a parking lot in the 3000 block of Route 34. The victim reported someone keyed her car, costing an estimated damage of $750.
- Oswego police took a report for criminal damage to property that occurred at an unknown time and date at Jackson and Main and also at Jefferson and Main. Damage was reported as broke stones on the retaining walls at both locations. Damage is estimated at more than $150.
No valid driver’s license
Anaey Barraza, 25, of the 0-99 block of Afton Road, Montgomery, was arrested at 9:52 p.m. at Goodwin Drive and Route 30 and charged for driving without a valid driver’s license after being involved in a 3-car accident, said Oswego police. She was also cited with failure to yield and driving with expired plates and no insurance.

Disorderly conduct, obstructing justice
Dierdre L. Sutton, 36, of the 400 block of Chestnut Street, North Aurora, was arrested at 6:44 p.m. at Longbeach and Springdale and charged with disorderly conduct and obstructing justice, said Oswego police.
Domestic battery, obstructing police officer
Mark A. Behrens, 34, of the 100 block of Meadows Court, Oswego, was arrested at 8:25 p.m. at his residence and charged with domestic battery and obstructing a police officer, said Oswego police.
Hit and run
Oswego police took a report for a hit and run that occurred at 4:30 p.m. in a parking lot at Route 34 and Douglas. The victim reported her vehicle had been struck when parked.
