Village Board to Hear Economic Development Update
Final approval expected for Chick-fil-A.

The Oswego Village Board and Committee of the Whole will meet Tuesday night to discuss and vote upon a number of issues. Here are some of them:
Taxicab ordinance
The village last updated its taxicab ordinance in 1967. Village Attorney Tim Hoppa has studied the ordinances of surrounding communities and will bring forward a series of recommendations to the Committee of the Whole, including requiring background checks for all owners and drivers, vehicle inspection forms and changes to the fee structure.

The board could vote on the final approval for the Chick-fil-A restaurant proposed for Route 34. If given the go-ahead, however, Community Development Director Rod Zenner has said construction isn’t likely to begin until next year.
Economic development update
The board is also set to hear an update on economic development efforts in the village, including a possible recommendation to fill in the newly created economic development director position.
In a memo to the board, Zenner wrote that staff has been talking with potential business who might want to locate in town, as well as three restaurants who have looked at downtown properties. The memo states that one of the restaurant owners has shown a high level of interest.
Staff has also been meeting with existing business to gauge impressions of the current business climate and the possibility of expanding their operations.
The Committee of the Whole meeting begins at 6 p.m. at with the Oswego Village Board meeting immediately following.
