What Roads Will Close, Where To Park For 4th Of July Events In Oswego

Oswego is celebrating Independence Day with its annual fireworks show at Prairie Point Community Park.

OSWEGO, IL — To celebrate the Fourth of July, Oswego is hosting its annual fireworks show on July 4. Parking and travel routes are expected to be limited before and after, police said.

The celebration is scheduled from 8-10 p.m. at Prairie Point Community Park, 4120 Plainfield Road. The rain date is set for July 5.

To alleviate traffic, routes will be altered at several intersections and school parking lot exits:

  • Both parking lots of the Oswego High School and Eastview Academy will only be allowed to travel northbound on Route 71.
  • Drivers headed east on Franklin Street will only be allowed to turn southbound onto Route 71.
  • Drivers exiting Stonehill Road onto Wolf Road will be required to turn eastbound onto Wolf’s Crossing Road only.
  • Woolley Road is closed to through traffic from Juniper Street to Douglas Road. Police are asking traffic to follow the Woolley Road posted detour.

Police and community service officers will be stationed at the intersections most affected by the congestion to help with traffic.

Temporary "no parking" signs will be posted at specific locations around the area, and regulatory "no parking" signs will be strictly enforced on both sides of Stonehill Road, Theodore Drive, Templeton Drive and Plank Drive.

All fireworks viewers are encouraged to use the parking lots at Traughber Junior High School, Eastview Academy, Prairie Point elementary school and park, and Oswego High School. Accessible parking will be located off Plank Drive in front of the school district's bus transportation lot. Eight additional spots will be available at Prairie Point Park by coming in off Grove Road.
