Yorkville Man Faces Child Abduction Charges After Custody Fight: Cops
Mark Aug remained inside a local home for hours Tuesday after police said he refused to turn over custody of a child to their mother.

YORKVILLE, IL — A 32-year-old Yorkville man faces child abduction charges following a dispute early Tuesday morning during which police said he refused to surrender custody of his child.
Mark Aug was charged by the Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office with child abduction and endangering the life or health of a child, the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office announced. The arrest comes after deputies were called to a residence on North Johnson Street in Newark just before 1 a.m. on Tuesday to check the well-being of a child during a child custody dispute, police said.
Police said that child’s mother reported Aug, who is the child’s father, was refusing to return the child to her as the child’s lawful custodian. After several hours, police said that Aug eventually exited the residence and was taken into custody without further incident.
