Back To School: Palos Consolidated SD 118 School Calendar for 2025-26

PALOS PARK, IL — Where did the summer go? There are just a few short weeks of summer left, until students head back to school this month.

Back-to-school planning has already begun in Palos Consolidated SD 118 for the 2025-2026 academic school year, with calendars available to help parents prepare their children for a smooth transition into the new school year.

The first day of school for grade 1-8 students is Aug. 20 with the first day of pre-school and kindergarten Aug. 21.

Some dates are subject to change during the school year. We also suggest that you check the Dist. 118 calendar or your child’s school (Palos West, East and South) for late starts, early dismissals, exams, open houses, athletic and school events, as well as your child's school.

Here is the list of dates to know for Dist. 118 schools for the upcoming school year:

Aug. 20 - First day of school, 1-8; visitation for kindergarten and preschool.
Aug. 21- First day of regular attendance for kindergarten and preschool
Sept. 1 - Labor Day, no school
Oct. 10 - Teacher’s Institute Day, no school
Oct. 13 - Columbus Day, no school
Nov. 24 and Nov. 25 - Parent-Teacher Conferences, no student attendance
Nov. 26 to Nov. 28 - Thanksgiving Break
Dec. 1 - School resumes
Dec. 22 through Jan. 2 – Winter Break
Jan. 5 - School resumes
Jan. 19 - Martin Luther King Jr. Day, no school
Feb. 16 - Presidents Day, no school
March 2 - Casimir Pulaski Day, no school
March 17 - Teacher’s Institute, Illinois Primary Election, no student attendance
March 20 - Eid, no school
March 30 through April 3 - Spring Break
April 6 - School resumes
May 25 - Memorial Day, no school
June 3 - Last day of preschool; eighth-grade graduation
June 4 - Records Day, half-day
June 5 - Last day of school
