Battery, Retail Theft: Palos Heights Police Blotter

Here are some arrests made by Palos Heights police in the past week. Charges listed to not indicate convictions.

PALOS HEIGHTS, IL — Palos Heights police publish their activity reports weekly on their website, outlining incidents and arrests. Here's a bit of what they've been up to lately. Charges listed do not indicate convictions.

Around 6:20 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7, Edward P. Bernard, 51, of Midlothian, entered a store in the 12600 block of S. Ridgeland Avenue and stole merchandise worth $80, police say. Police say he admitted to the crime and was held on $1,500 bond with 10 percent to post. He's expected in court on Jan. 28, 2019.

Around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 10, police arrested Jamila M. Barakat, 56, of Tinley Park, on a battery charge. Police say she committed the battery on Nov. 26 while visiting a patient at Palos Health. She was held on $1,500 bond and is expected in court on Jan. 17, 2019.
