This spring, Shepard teacher Jennifer Fischer and her students will host teachers and students from Goethe. Their German guests will live with the families of Shepard students for more than two weeks.

Goethe students will attend classes at Shepard, visit various cultural and historical sites in the Chicago area, and, in general, experience life as Americans. Goethe and Shepard students have visited one another for more than two decades.

“The opportunity to host someone from another nation is truly enriching. We try to share as much of the people, culture, cuisine, music and life of German people in class and in our many activities and field trips. Hosting a German student of course offers an entirely different educational experience,” Fischer said.
