Lantern Theatre to Perform 'Into the Woods'

Lantern Theatre to Perform Into the Woods
Fractured fairy tales come to the summer stage

The goal of Lantern Theatre is to provide the Marist family the opportunity to participate in high-quality, innovative summer theatre not typical of high school productions. After the success of their big debut, SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET last summer, Lantern Theatre is back to tackle another of Stephen Sondheim’s classics, INTO THE WOODS.

INTO THE WOODS combines the well-known fairy tales of Cinderella, Rapunzel, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Little Red Riding Hood with an original story of a baker and his wife, who desperately want a child. Unfortunately, they have been cursed with childlessness by a witch, who offers to break their spell if they bring her a cow as white as milk, a cape as red as blood, hair as yellow as corn, and a slipper as pure as gold. Eventually, every character gets his or her wish, but not without discovering what truly happens after "happily ever after."
