Fire Burns Large Home In Palos Park
The occupants were not home when the blaze broke out Monday. Ten neighboring fire agencies assisted in striking the fire, officials said.
PALOS PARK, IL — A fire erupted Monday afternoon at a home in Palos Park. Fire officials said the homeowners were not home when the fire broke out.
Just before 4:30 p.m., a police officer spotted smoke coming from a large house in the 12400 block of South 81st Avenue, said Chief Joe Miller, of the Palos Park Police Department.
When fire crews arrived, flames were coming through the roof. Chief Chris Courtney, of the Palos Fire Protection District, said the blaze appeared to have started in the basement and traveled to the attic.

It took about 2.5 hours to put out the blaze. At least ten other fire agencies assisted in putting out the fire.
No injuries were reported. The home sustained heavy damage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
