2 Stolen Cars Roll Through Palos Heights, One Involved In Hit-And-Run Crash: Reports

Both vehicles were reported stolen in Chicago, Palos Heights police said.

PALOS HEIGHTS, IL — Drivers of stolen vehicles were taken into custody in two separate incidents in Palos Heights, reports said.

Around 10:52 a.m., July 30, a Palos Heights police officer saw a stolen motor vehicle while traveling north on Harlem Avenue. The officer conducted a traffic stop and took the driver into custody. The vehicle was reported stolen in Chicago.

Bakari Simmons, 25, was charged with criminal trespassing to a motor vehicle.

On Aug. 3, around 10:15 a.m., police said a Chicago man crashed into a car near 119th Street and Harlem Avenue while driving a stolen vehicle. The driver, later identified as Blake Springsteen, 34, failed to remain at the scene and took off, reports said.

Springsteen was later picked up by Posen police and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle. He was charged with hit-and-run and aggravated fleeing and eluding bodily injury.
