IL Route 83/171 Closed Due To Oversized Load Mishap: TRAFFIC ALERT

PALOS PARK, IL — Palos Park and Lemont police are assisting the Cook County Sheriff’s Police with a road closure affecting Illinois Route 83/171 between Main Street (111th) and 107th Street.

A semi-truck hauling an unsecured oversized load is believed to have made contact with a portion of the bridge. All roads leading north into DuPage County are shut down, in the area of Archer Avenue and Route 83. IDOT is waiting for a structural engineer to inspect the bridge over the Cal-Sag Canal.

In other words, it’s a real mess, so avoid the area.
