Lightning Sparks Short-Lived Garage Fire
A fire contained to the roof of a garage on West 131st Street started during a thunderstorm Thursday evening.
A lightning strike is blamed for igniting a small fire on a garage roof Thursday evening.
The fire sparked at about 5:30 p.m. during a brief but strong thunderstorm that blanketed the Palos area with rain.
Crews from the Palos Fire Protection District extinguished the blaze quickly at the garage, located in the 8600 block of West 131st Street, according to one department official.
Flames were contained to the roof and attic.
