Juliette Gordon Low (1860-1927) was an enthusiastic organizer and fundraiser who led the formation of the Girl Scouts of America in 1912. Low's original registration book from that time shows 102 recruits. By the time of her death, the Girl Scouts had become a successful national organization. Now a century has passed and millions of Americans have taken the Girl Scout promise, sold Samoas and Thin Mints by the truckload and gone on to careers from CEOs to astronauts.

Betsey Means of Woman Lore performs as Low, stepping into her character for an entertaining presentation of her biography and the impact of the Girl Scouts on our society. Means is a professional actress who has performed with Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Shakespeare on the Green, Blue Rider Theatre, and Chicago Children's Theatre, among other groups.
