More Than 40 Students Participate in Breast Cancer Walk

Shepard students recently participated in in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.

More than 40 members from Leo Club and Key Club, a pair of organizations devoted to community service, from participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Orland Park last Sunday.

“It was a pretty amazing day today. This was a really special event for the kids. It was a great day of showing our Astro pride,” said teacher Nicole Petrauskas, who serves as faculty sponsor for Key Club.

Aside from participating in the walk, students raised more than $500 for breast cancer research.  Leo Clubs are the high school affiliates of Lions Clubs International, while Key Clubs are associated with Kiwanis International.
