3 In Custody After '100 Percent' Targeted Shooting In Worth: Police

Three males believed to be involved in the shooting were found in the area, along with a gun, steel safe and several vehicles, police said.

WORTH, IL —Three people are now in custody following a shooting Monday afternoon when multiple shots were fired in what Worth police said was a “targeted shooting.”

The shooting unfolded just before 4 p.m. in the 10600 block of South Depot Avenue. No one was struck by gunfire, and no gunshot victims turned up at area hospitals.

“I can confirm that shots were fired and that it was a 100 percent targeted incident between the two parties involved,” said Chief Tim Denton, of the Worth Police Department.

With the assistance of K9 officer, Garron, Worth police officers canvassed the area. Denton said officers found a gun, a steel safe and “multiple involved vehicles.”

Following a brief foot chase, officers apprehended three males believed to be involved in the area of the shooting. The incident remains under investigation and there is no threat to the community, police said.
