Palos Communities Salute Veterans With Spoken Word And Song, Tuesday, Veterans Day
Palos Park, Palos Heights and Palos Hills will hold Veterans Day ceremonies in their respective communities Tuesday, Nov. 11.
PALOS, IL — Palos communities are planning Veterans Day ceremonies which, this year, falls on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
Originally called Armistice Day, Veterans Day is always observed on Nov. 11 to reflect the signing of the armistice ending World War I at 11 a.m. on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. The observance was changed to Veterans Day in 1954 to include veterans who served in World War II and the Korean War.

Palos Heights
Veterans and community members are invited to a ceremony starting at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park, 7607 W. College Drive, Palos Heights.
Immediately following the ceremony, head over to the Palos Heights Public Library, 12501 S. 71st Ave., for a reception starting at 11:30 a.m. Light refreshments will be served.

Palos Hills
Join the City of Palos Hills and veterans Tuesday, Nov. 11, for a Veterans Day Ceremony. The ceremony will start at 6 p.m., at the Palos Hills Community Center, 8455 W. 103rd St.
Everyone is welcome to attend this special ceremony as we remember the contributions of all the service members who fought and continue to fight in our nation’s conflicts. For more information, please call the City of Palos Hills Resource & Recreation

Palos Park
Gather at the Palos Park Recreation Center, 8901 W. 123rd St., with village officials and local veterans for a special Veterans Day ceremony. The program starts at 11 a.m. and includes remarks from elected officials, song and spoken word.
