Palos Heights Police Blotter: Air Pistol, DUIs and Smashed Windows

Palos Heights police reports, Oct. 20-Oct. 24

SUNDAY, OCT. 24

DUI on Harlem Avenue

Alphia Thomas, 31, of the 9200 block of Star Court in Frankfort, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding. Thomas was stopped on the 12200 block of Harlem Avenue for speeding, police said. She later failed field sobriety tests and a breath test.

Theft from Car

An unknown individual removed $100 between 2 p.m. and 3:46 p.m. from an unlocked vehicle that was parked in a driveway on the 12000 block of 71st Court, police said.

Air Pistol and Drug Paraphernalia

Michelle Ryan, 22, of the 300 block of West Second Street in Momence, was charged with unlawful possession of an air rifle and possession of drug paraphernalia. Ryan was displaying a gun in the area of Route 83 and Princeton Lane at 3:05 p.m., police said. After securing the scene, officers learned the gun was a soft air pistol that was a replica of a semi-automatic weapon and that Ryan also was in possession of drug paraphernalia.

SATURDAY, OCT. 23

DUI on Harlem Avenue

William Boyle, 48, of the 10200 block of Washington in Oak Lawn, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, no proof of insurance and speeding.  Boyle was stopped on the 12300 block of Harlem Avenue for speeding and failed a field sobriety test, police said.

FRIDAY, OCT. 22

DUI and Accident on Ridgeland Avenue

Kimberlyn Stewart, 41, of the 9200 block of Hartwood Court in Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, operation of an uninsured vehicle and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Stewart was involved in a traffic crash at 135th Street and Ridgeland Avenue at approximately 12:52 a.m.  A strong smell of alcohol was on her breath and her eyes were bloodshot, police said.

Hubcaps Swiped

The hubcaps of a 2007 Cadillac were removed while the car was parked in the rear of a business area between 10:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. in the 12300 block of Harlem Avenue, police said.

THURSDAY, OCT. 21

Vehicle Windows Smashed

Sometime in the overnight hours of Oct. 20 and Oct. 21 several vehicles had their windows smashed and items were removed from the vehicles in the Ishnala subdivision, police said.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 20

DUI and Car Crash on 127th Street

William Peterson, 50, of the 5800 block of 126th Street in Alsip, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Peterson was involved in a two-vehicle crash on the 6300 block of 127th Street at 7:37 p.m., police said. Peterson failed a field sobriety test and breath test, police said.
