PALOS PARK, IL — A citizen’s police academy is forming in Palos Park, slated to start in January 2026. The Citizen Police Academy program is a great forum to engage with Palos Park officers and provide education about law enforcement operations.

The Palos Park Citizen’s Police Academy will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the Kaptur Administrative Center, 8999 West 123rd St.. Classes will be held every Tuesday for twelve weeks from 6 to 9 p.m. The final class and graduation ceremony will take place Tuesday, March 25.

Applications can be found on the Palos Park Citizens Police Academy or picked up in person at the Kaptur Administrative Center, 8999 W. 123rd St.

Completed applications must be returned by Monday, Nov. 3, to the attention of Commander Chris Hughes by returning them in person or via e-mail at chughes@palospark.org

The course will be limited to 15 participants, and you must be a resident of the Village of Palos Park. Residents selected as participants will be notified by e-mail the week of Dec. 1. Those not selected in the first course will be added to a wait list. Your application will be valid for future Citizens Police Academy courses.
