Palos Park Police Safety Checks Nab Violators
Police officers in Palos Park set up five different safety checkpoints over the weekend. The effort is intended to promote safe driving.

Over Labor Day weekend, the Palos Park Police Department set up five safety checkpoints in an effort to promote safe driving, and the operation resulted in dozens of tickets.
Over the course of the weekend, 71 violations were observed by police officers, according to Palos Park Police Chief Joe Miller.
In addition to the violations, one DUI arrest was made. In total there were six arrests over the weekend.

Miller says the safety checkpoints are set up when the department has enough staff to conduct them.
The safety checkpoints are not limited to holiday weekends and are part of a larger effort to promote safe driving practices, Miller said.
