"This is meant as a convenience to village residents as an alternate payment method," Mayor John Mahoney said.

Palos Park residents had been requesting the ability to pay by credit cards for some time, Mahoney said.
Card readers will be installed at the village hall and police station. Eventually, residents will be able to go online and pay their water bills through the village's website, said Rick Boehm, village administrator.
