Palos Stars last home game for 2025 Season

Saturday was the last home game at the Palos Stars field for the 2025 season and the 8th graders were recognized.

The final games on the Palos Stars field for the 2025 season was played this past Saturday. With it being the last home game, the Stars recognized the 8th graders who will be graduating out of the program. Mayor Jerry Bennett from Palos Hills came out to congratulate the players and cheerleaders on the time with the program.

The Mighty-Mites took the field.

#65 Larkins had a couple great tackles, including a big backfield tackle. #74 L. Farr had a great backfield tackle, ripping off the ball carriers shoe.

At halftime, the Mighty-Mites Cheerleaders had their longest show yet, cheering so loud and proud.

After the cheerleaders, the Stars held their first My mama can throw farther than your mama contest. Dr P, a Stars Mighty-Mites mom, won for the 2nd time this season. #67 Wodarski had a great backfield tackle. #5 Borkowska slowed the runner and #46 Lichtenberger made the outside tackle.

#65 Larkins and #28 had good runs. #53 Mauldin had a great tackle. #67 Wodarski had a great backfield tackle. The Mighty-Mites do not play in the traditional playoffs, but they have two weeks of practice before the final contest of the season. The Southwest Midget League Mighty-Mite Bowl is a one day double elimination tournament will be held on Oct 26th.

The Widgets played next. #19 Inabi, #78 Larkins, and #84 Smith had good carries.

The Stars kept pushing and got a 1st down. #19 Inabi had a great run for another 1st down. Great tackle after #32 Al-Ibadi slowed runner. #19 Inabi had a great tackle and then followed that up with an interception. #84 Smith had a good carry up the middle. #23 Eid and #21 Storrs had a great tackle.

#27 Bowater had a great backfield tackle. At halftime, more fans took part in the my mama can throw farther than Your mama. #78 Larkins had a great run for a big 1st down. #32 Al-Ibadi had a great tackle. #19 Inabi, #78 Larkins and #9 Vara had great runs.

#84 Smith and #35 Whittler had a great tackle to end the game.

The Pee-wees came up next. #12 Williams had a good carry. #7 Quinn had a good quaterback keep, up the middle. A Stars Constellation tackle including #22 GTO, #5 Akel, and #12 Williams held the Bulldogs offense. #30 Inabi and #10 Dickerson had a good tackle.

#10 Dickerson and #15 Lichtenberger had a great tackle.

#46 Cooper blocked an extra point attempt. Then #22 GTO tackled to stop an extra point attempt. At halftime, the Pee-wees cheerleaders had a great show with high flying stunts.

More Mama's joined the fun of the my mama can throw farther than Your mama game. After the half, #5 Akel picked up a fumble at the 14 yard line. #17 Clarke had a great outside tackle. #46 Cooper had a great tackle.

#31 Bittner and #30 Inabi had a great tackle for turnover on downs. #17 Clarke and #12 Williams had a great tackle in the backfield. #10 Dickerson had another great tackle to end the game.

The JV team was next. With this being 8th grade night, the 4 8th graders playing on JV this year were selected as captains for the game.

Their final game on the field, they walked out arm in arm. #11 Greenway and #25 Montoya had a great tackle.

#9 Ennis had a good carry. #30 Inabi and #11 Greenway had a great tackle. Good carry by #14 Dreyer.

#21 Madsen and #3 Flynn blocked the extra point attempt. #14 Dreyer and #47 Jackson Jr had good carries. Stars had a great backfield sack for a big loss. #17 A. Bittner had a great hard hitting outside tackle. #44 Gonzalez and #30 Inabi had a good tackle.

#86 Goelitz had a good tackle. The Stars blocked the extra point attempt. #86 Goelitz had a good tackle. #34 Alberts and #47 Jackson Jr also had great tackles. #86 Goelitz blocked the extra point attempt. #14 Dreyer had a great run for a Stars 1st down.

The Varsity team came on last. #55 Fernandez had a great tackle. #5 Workman had a good return on the kick off. #5 Workman had a good carry. #2 Gordon picked up a fumble for the Stars. #5 Workman had a great run and then a push for a 1st down. The Stars had a Constellation tackle near the goal line. #17 Matula caught a great pass from #12. The Varsity Cheerleaders put on a great performance with loud cheers, clean movements and high flying stunts.

All the 8th graders who will be graduating out of the Stars program were introduced and escorted onto the field with their families.

Mayor Jerry Bennett was there to great and congratulate them. It is a bitter sweet night, as some of these players have been on the Stars for many years. #16 L. Tyma has been with the program the longest, starting when he was only 6 years old. #17 A. Bittner and #54 Eid joined the fillowing year at age 7. #5 Workman, #22 L. Bittner and Cheerlearder Jenna have been here for many years as well.

Not coming back to this field after making this their home for so long will feel strange, but they will always carry the lessons learned and the memories made. Some just started this year but found a place to belong and learned a lot along the way.

They will all be greatly missed but always welcome back because "Once a Star, Always a Star!" The Stars program is a family and they will always keep these players a part of that!

Next week, the Widgets took through Varsity will play in the first round of playoffs.
