Construction work that is part of the Oak Lawn water main project will cause temporary road closures and detours between July 31 and Aug 3.

PALOS HEIGHTS, IL – A stretch of McCarthy Road will be closed to traffic in both directions beginning July 31 as construction crews from the Oak Lawn water main project will be working in the area for several days, the Palos Heights Police Department announced.

Crews will be working to cross McCarthy Road in the 7700 block with the pipeline. Lane closures will begin at 8 p.m. July 31 and will run through 5 a.m. on Aug. 3. Road closure signs will be posted at McCarthy Road intersections at 80th and 76th avenues. Detour signs will be posted and local traffic will be able to access side streets and driveways up to the area where construction work is being done.

Police said that following the reopening of the roadway, periodic lane closures and shifting will take place to allow for pavement restoration.
