Stagg Students Using Gym T-Shirts to Improve Vocabulary
Why do Stagg students have words like "bisector" and "population density" on the backs of their gym uniforms? We'll tell you . . .

In an effort to boost literacy the physical education department at Stagg High School has come up with an inventive way to expose students to vocabulary words.
Collaborating with other school departments, the phys. ed. department screen printed freshman gym shirts with vocabulary words that come right from the freshman curriculum across a variety of subjects.
District 230 says that research indicates that the more students are repeatedly exposed to these words, the better their mastery of them will be. What better way to study vocabulary words than on the backs of your peers?
The goal is to encourage students to be able to use these terms in real-life scenarios and the hope is that by scrawling them across their classmates in gym class, students will see them beyond just letter on a sheet of paper.
