Updated: Three-Car Accident on 127th and Harlem in Palos Heights

Multiple people were injured in a crash that left three vehicles heavily damaged.

Emergency crews are working on a three-car crash at Harlem Avenue and 127th Street in Palos Heights.

Several people were injured, though the severity is not immediately known nor how the crash occurred.

The injured have already been transferred from the crash scene for medical attention.

The intersection is still open for vehicles to pass through, though traffic is heavy near the area. Two small compact cars and a Jeep vehicle were involved in the crash. The Jeep and one of the cars sustained heavy damage, while the third sedan was damaged mostly in its front end.

UPDATE 6:11 p.m.:The vehicles appeared to have been turning west onto 127th Street when the collision occurred. The transported at least two individuals by ambulance.

A tow truck is on the scene and traffic is moving a bit more steadily, however police are still directing traffic at the intersection.

UPDATE 7:25 p.m. Two people were transported from the accident scene by ambulance. One was taken to Advocate Christ and the other to Palos Community Hospital, said Sgt. Jeff Crowley.

Eye witnesses reported that one car went through a red light striking one vehicle, which then struck another, Crowley said.

The conditions of the injured drivers was not immediately known, but both were believed to be conscious at the scene, Crowley said.
