Westgate Lawsuit Settlement Nears Completion
A settlement between Palos Heights and several homeowners associations is nearing.

While the exact terms of the settlement between and various homeowners associations in the Westgate development has not been made public, several details have emerged.
On Tuesday the City Council , more than three years after the initial lawsuit was filed.
Michael Marovich, an attorney for the city, says that the terms of the agreement are essentially in line with what was talked about between the two parties over three years ago.

The settlement focuses on water and sewer lines; however, the developments will not receive snow removal services or other maintenance, Marovich said.
Because of their status as private roads, the homeowners associations are responsible for all aspects of street maintenance. The lawsuit hinged on an annexation agreement from 1998 that indicated that upon completion the roads should have been dedicated to the city.

The city asserted that the roads, like those of other subdivisions, were always intended to remain private.
