World War II Brought to Life at Palos South

Palos South School held a demonstration to educate students about Pearl Harbor and World War II

World War  II was brought to life for eighth graders through living history demonstrations Monday at .

Having recently begun their World War II unit in social studies, students supplemented their knowledge by viewing artifacts and witnessing demonstrations from “Don’t Know Much About History” group and members of the World War II Historical Society.  

Students learned about the Pacific and European theatres, major battles, and womens’ roles in the war. Palos South student Kelsey Weivoda said she was able to experience the era in a more meaningful way through the presentation.

“They gave more precise details than our books about World War II,” she said.

The Palos 118 Parent Faculty Association sponsors the in-school learning experience. Next semester, the PFA will bring Civil War Days to seventh graders at South.
