At 3:30 pm this afternoon COP Snow Fighters began pretreating all City streets.  The strategy for this evening is that all 17 snow routes are being pretreated with rock salt and liquid in an attempt to loosen up the ice pack before the next freezing rain system heads our way tomorrow.  We are also pretreating all streets with salt and liquid in advance of the storm in an attempt to prevent ice from bonding to the pavement.  Mainly on the primary arterial streets that are mostly dry and clear at this time.  Salt trucks will remain on the streets as long as necessary with a refreeze being forecasted for our area late tomorrow evening into the overnight hours into Sunday morning.  As always if you must travel, drive safe and go slow.
