Why this longtime Peoria shopping center will now have additional tax (pjstar.com) — Peoria shoppers at Glen Hollow Shopping Center will soon pay an extra 1% sales tax after the City Council approved a business development district to fund infrastructure upgrades there. Supporters say Peoria must compete with nearby cities for retail, while opponents argue taxpayers shouldn’t subsidize private property owners or loosely defined “blight.”

The Braves, now 7–4, took control midway through the first half and never trailed again, cruising to a 17-point halftime lead and comfortable victory.
