Workers will barricade this portion of Nebraska Ave to ready the site for new storm sewers, curbing and pavement replacement.
Detours are changing next week surrounding the Sheridan Road Community Investment Plan (CIP). Workers will barricade this portion of Nebraska Avenue as they begin to excavate and ready the site for new storm sewers, curbing and pavement replacement.
New Detours:
Motorists are encouraged to avoid the worksite and surrounding streets, when possible. Current detours will go unchanged, however, drivers heading east on Nebraska Avenue will be directed to Broadway Street, McClure Avenue and North Street. Westbound drivers will be routed north to McClure Avenue and Broadway Street.

This portion of the project should be complete by Friday, September 18, weather pending. Overall the Sheridan Road CIP project from Eleanor Place to Richmond Avenue is on track to finish early December. Once the upgrade is complete, residents will be able to travel on new roadway, sidewalks and bike lanes. Public Works thanks residents for their patience.
Why Sheridan?
Sheridan Road is a highly used corridor in the City with an Average Daily Traffic (ADT) above 6,000 vehicles. The road runs north to south just above Interstate 74 making it a well-traveled arterial road. In addition, CityLink relies heavily on the road as their drivers take riders as far north as Evergreen Square and as far south as Southwest Adams Street. All in all, the improvements will make the road safer and more enjoyable for residents.
