The Althoff High School Girl’s State Champion Soccer Team joined the St. Clair County Transit District in planting over 120 trees – including Sugar Maple, Pecan, Hickory and Swamp White Oaks – along the new, 1.1-mile Tecklenburg Trail on April 17. This $4.3 million paved bike and pedestrian pathway opened to the public in early March. It extends from 66th and Main Streets through the Tecklenburg Forest Preserve to the MetroBikeLink Trail near Dutch Hollow and Llewellyn roads, connecting residents in West Belleville, Ill., to the more than 39 miles of interconnecting trails and bike paths in St. Clair County that make up the ever-evolving MetroBikeLink System.
