Armed Robbery At 7-Eleven On Route 59 In Plainfield: Police

Romeoville resident Edson A. Castillo entered the convenience store, showed a knife and demanded money from the cash register, police said.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A 7-Eleven in Plainfield was robbed Monday after a man showed a knife and demanded money from the cash register, police said.

The Plainfield Police Department responded to the store, located at 15809 S. Route 59, at 2:12 a.m. Officers were told that after the man demanded the money, a store employee gave him an unknown amount of cash. Police said he then left the store and took off in a direction that was not known to them.

A little while later, officers learned that the Will County Sheriff's Deputies had two suspects in custody near the Turk Furniture Store in Joliet. One of the deputies had seen the man quickly exit 7-Eleven, get into the passenger seat of a Chevy Impala, and flee the scene at a high speed, police said.

As the deputy was following the car, he was told about the armed robbery at 7-Eleven. Both suspects were apprehended after a brief chase. The passenger, Edson A. Castillo, of Romeoville, was identified as the armed robber from the store. Police also recovered the knife and a bag containing $58.

Castillo was charged with armed robbery but charges on the driver of the car are still pending, police said.
